Since 2000 I have created and given dozens of hosted orchestra concerts, including Afterworks, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Light Classics with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, as well as several performances of my light-hearted family show The Classical Goodtime Variety Show with the Edmonton Symphony, Symphony New Brunswick and The Kingston Symphony, among many others.
In addition, along with Peter Oundjian, I designed and co-curated the celebrated 8 Days in June festival with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the ongoing Decades Project with The Toronto Symphony.
Tom Allen is a true communicator. He conjures images and spins tales, the Garrison Keillor of music. He’s also extremely entertaining from the beginning to the end of the process and a joy to work with.
Peter Oundjian, Music Director, Toronto Symphony Orchestra
“… a fine early evening’s concert… made especially enjoyable by the finely crafted and moving introductions by the CBC’s Tom Allen. Beautifully placed, each heightened the emotional substance of the work it preceded.”
Robert Harris, Toronto Star
